About the author:

Allyn has lived in Boulder for most of her life, and has been a volunteer member of a number of city boards and commissions, including Planning Board, Landmarks Board, the Boulder Housing Authority (now known as Boulder Housing Partners), the Boulder County Recycling Authority and two terms on the Open Space Board of Trustees. She was appointed to the Boulder City Council in 1992 to fill a vacancy, serving through 1997. Allyn is the past Board President of Eco-cycle, and was a member of the Board Pro Tem of Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio. In her professional life, she has been involved in several start up businesses focused on environmental technology. She also worked in the field of planning and architecture, and was the owner and principal of a professional consulting firm, specializing in planning projects related to economic revitalization of historic downtowns.
