New Era News | Not Your Friend’s Shi**y LiveJournal

By

You may have noticed a distinct lack of participation in journalism from the youth of the state of Colorado. Despite having a kick ass journalism school at the University of Colorado, it’s rare to get young people’s input into the daily happenings of the world through their own eyes.

That is all about to change.

NewEraNews.org is a project of New Era Colorado Foundation, a nonprofit organization committed to engaging, educating, and training a new generation of active citizens and young leaders in Colorado. This blog is a collaborative experiment with articles written by New Era staff, media interns, a random array of guest bloggers, and young people throughout this square state of ours.

Not only will there be articles on the daily news, but there will be cultural pieces as well. Our favorite bars, celebrities, musicians, authors, politicians, important thinkers and generally awesome things will be published daily as to become a digital hub for Colorado’s youth.

The lack of youth perspective in the media has provided cause to give young people what they want: honest and straightforward reflections of the world by their peers. Although the issues our generation face today are of grave concern and deserve progressive, forward-thinking solutions, we always remind ourselves that the last thing to take seriously is ourselves.

Since 2006, New Era Colorado has been working to empower young people in Colorado with the tools to change the politics and world around them. Now, New Era is making an ill-advised foray into the world of blogging and journalism with NewEraNews.org. We hope you’ll join us. Create an account and you can start contributing in just a minute or two.
