She was appointed to the Boulder City Council in 1992 to fill a vacancy, serving through 1997. Allyn is the past Board President of Eco-cycle, and was a member of the Board Pro Tem of Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio. In her professional life, she has been involved in several start up businesses focused on environmental technology.
