Gross Reservoir Dam<\/p><\/div>\n

On Thursday, July 21, 2011 at 7:00pm, <\/strong>Colorado State Senator Jeanne Nicholson and State Representative Claire Levy will host a Public Town Hall meeting to discuss the expansion of Gross Dam, located just off of Flagstaff Road in Boulder County, Colorado.<\/p>\n

Concerned citizens of\u00a0 Colorado’s Front Range communities are on the front lines of wanting to retool our society into a more sustainable one. We have begun asking tough but important questions about how we in Colorado are going to use water in our arid state and how we are going to sustain a viable culture if we continue the current water waste practices.<\/p>\n

Now is the time to stop the dam in our neighborhood<\/a>. Now is the time to rethink the nonstop push for more dams, which do not actually create more water. Rather, dams drain rivers and allow continued reliance on overconsumption. Join your neighbors in a conversation about how to stop this dam and how to move forward.<\/p>\n

The Gross Reservoir Enlargement Project<\/a> is a project of Denver Water and will cost upwards of $150M. Imagine if that money was spent on far-reaching conservation and retooling efforts rather than to serve water to the anticipated Candelas Development<\/a>, a project with big-box retail and multiple golf courses, thousands of houses and no public transportation, along Hwy 93 between Golden and Boulder! Save Boulder. Stop Gross Dam.<\/p>\n

Please join the citizens of The Environmental Group<\/a> and Preserve Colorado<\/a> and make your voice heard tonight:<\/p>\n

DIRECTIONS:<\/strong> From Hwy 93 between Boulder and Golden, take Hwy 72 West into the foothills. Continue about 11 miles up the canyon. The CCIA Hall is located across from the United Power office at the intersection of Hwy. 72 and Gross Dam Rd.)<\/p>\n
